New to me, under this title anyways. Glad to hear Ronnie's well represented. Appreciate the post yewsta, many thanks.

Martial Solal
I really had to get this after the work on the cover.
Thanks yewsta - looking forward to hearing this great line-up.
Emmmm..., may I ask: do Martial Soal and Tete Montoliu really play together (2 pianos) on this?
Love to know.
Thanks.
(Will follow comments for news).
Red - An interesting point which had occurred to me before but about which I had done nothing. The Martial Solal LP back cover lists them both as playing on tracks 1, 5, 6, 7 and 9 but Tete's name is at the ends of the lists for these tracks. Tete’s name appears in the lists, higher up, for tracks 3 and 4. The EP issued under Tete's name includes only 5, 6 and 7. There is no differentiation of personnel on the three tracks and both Tete and Martial are listed as playing. The text is mostly unreadable in my copy and in any case is in French I think, of which I understand very little.
If you can throw any more light on this, I would be very interested to hear about it. I'm going to try listening to it with this point in mind.
Many, many thanks - I really appreciate this, and will look forward, if I may, to a report once you get a chance to listen.
Would be highly significant, I think.
Have already listened to it, Colm, but why don't you listen to it yourself? Perhaps you are not into downloading? If you would like to discuss this, post a comment including an email address - I will not publish it.
I have established that even though the LP cover says track 8 has no piano and yet a guitar, the opposite is the case. However, which pianist it is I cannot tell. Some of the tracks that are supposed to have two pianists might have - I noticed on track 1 that the earlier piano playing sounds like a different instrument to the later solo playing. The earlier comping accompaniment seemed to my ears to be an inferior instrument but I could very easily be wrong. On some later tracks the piano sounds as if it could be two players but again not at all sure. Another pair of ears at this would be very welcome. I am interested to know why you say it would be highly significant.
You are very kind!
I'm afraid it's the FLAC thing that defeats me. I don't know how to play them.
As to the significance: they are the 2 giants of piano in Europe, and indeed, in hisory as far as I'm concerned, and I never did know they had had an encounter.
Thank you, of course!
We can get round that. What kind of files can you play? MP3? Wave?
Wow! Really! That's an incredible suggestion!
I use Windows Media Player, so MP3 I think...........
I don't know what to say!
This is a fantastic privillage: thank-you so, so much!
I have downloaded successfully, and, listening now, I really do think that pianists alternate throughout. This is just my best guess.
I'm looking at a Montoliu discography too, where it indicates that the 2 do not play together, but rather alternate.
The music, though, is remarkable - really wonderful in places (Solal's "Avertssez-Moi" is typically astonishing! A great track), and Ronnie Ross is fabulous in his features too of course (love him).
Like I say, Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You! So kind of you. Really satisfying as far as I'm concerned.
Very glad you were able to get it and listen to it. It sure sounds as if the discography has it right. Is in on the web or a printed one? I wonder if it says anything about track 8 (3+3)? I expect it follows the details on the back cover though, stating a guitar rather than a piano, if the track is mentioned at all. Could you guess at who is the pianist?
Thanks for your kind words - you are very welcome.
It's okay, Colm, I think I've found it. Should have looked before asking. Some confusion about the tune titles, covers are clearly not accurate but that is nothing new. I see it says that "Spanish Telefunken EP was issued under name of Teté [sic] Montoliu although he is not pianist on these tracks." Ut is stated that he plays on track 8 but I will have to look at it all a bit more closely. Thanks for highlighting all this.
Yes, I was thinking of that and trying to distinguish - but even from just the "comping" (there's no piano solo on this track - right?) I'm going to say Solal.
May I ask which of the labels listed is your copy on?
My many, many thanks again. Most sincerely! I'm enjoying this record so.
Telefunken is my copy, but it is only a copy. Going to look more into this tomorrow but did you see the one just gone on eBay? $46.55 and badly damaged on side2 the seller said. That was Telarc.
Actually this one is on the top in my "best of the buch" as the best jazz album found in the 2010- and never heard before.
I discover today you blog, I hope I will find many more gems like this one.
Thanks for your efforts , I doubt I will have something interesting to publish here, I think my collection can't compete with yours, but I will check asap

rubberduck. Welcome to this blog backwater. Thanks for the heartening comments and good luck with perusing the other items.
What happened to the rapidshare/mp3 link? Says the file has been removed by the uploader.... :S
Matthew - MP3 downloads used to be offered here in addition to FLAC but that had to be discontinued to save space. The MP3 link in the comments above - now removed - was only a temporary one. The current links are only FLAC if lossless available - see the front page for the ones to use. Each item has only one current set of links and that is for the best quality available.
Found your blog yesterday - the links are still working.
I'm into Ronnie Ross only recently and your offers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Wish you a great 2012!
